Emily Knight of Pattern CO is a Colorado based artist and art educator for Denver Public Schools. As an art teacher, she makes space for student artists to develop their own artistic voice through exploration of materials, themes and personal experiences. In her own work, she develops landscape themes that embody the energy of her experiences traveling through Colorado and the southwest and exploring the relationship between land and sky as it holds space for the human experience; dreams, memories - between who we were, are - and will be. These paintings are visual representations of the beauty and hardship that is being human - a vast horizon, a bending river, layers and textures of land as a meditation on life and the art of living it. These paintings are meditations on being human and how the physical world reflects what cannot be seen, but is undeniably real.
